I have always loved paintings and really believe they are so much more than just an image. A painting that you connect with is such a personal and at times a very powerful experience.
A famous artist once said, “A painting should be felt not analyzed” and I think there’s a lot of truth in that.
Trying to capture the feel of a place or object can seem illusive, often it’s an intuitive thing that seems to come through during the process.
I work in oils and draw inspiration from the character of the places that surround me and from the beauty of treasured objects. There’s always so much to learn and I’m always looking for ways to hone my skills soaking up whatever there is to learn about painting.
